Codependents and Narcissists: Understanding the Attraction
Emotional manipulators (pathological narcissists) and codependents are reflexively and unconsciously drawn into relationships with each other, not so much by what they see, feel and think, but more by an invisible and irresistible attraction force. Despite painful consequences, both dysfunctionally well-balanced partners seem powerless to stop their persistent attraction pattern. Using Ross Rosenberg's cutting edge and innovative theories, the binding dysfunctional relationship pattern is deconstructed and explained. Ross will explain the origins and inner workings of the attraction dynamic so that clinicians can better understand the codependent and emotional manipulator (Borderline, Narcissistic and Antisocial Personality Disorders) relationship.
Ross's "Continuum of Self Theory," "Dysfunctional Dance Analogy," and "The Human Magnet Syndrome Explanation" ties together a complex web of underlying psychological forces that inescapably draws the emotional manipulators and codependents into enduring and mutually reinforcing dysfunctional relationship. You will explore why these two pathological personality types coexist in an intense, fluid and self-correcting system that is kept viable by their enduring magnetic-like attraction. Ross will draw from psychodynamic, self-psychology, and family systems theories
Ross will describe in detail the symptoms and traits of Codependency, Narcissistic, Borderline and Antisocial Personality Disorders. Most importantly, you will learn how to help codependent victims recognize their own propensity to be attracted to emotional manipulators. Therapy approaches will be briefly discussed. With an understanding of this "magnetic" relationship force, psychotherapeutic efforts can be more focused and effective. At the end of the day, you will leave with a deeper understanding about these destructive relationships.

Internet, Cybersex, Romance, Fantasy and Social Networking Addiction
"A new and rapidly growing population of Internet addicts has emerged. The Internet has become the global "drug" of choice. As a result of the constant technological advancements of our computers, phones and tablet devices, the Internet has never been more enticing, alluring and compelling. Due to the proliferation of online social sites for recreation, dating and other "hook-ups," it is all too easy to log-in, tune-out and engage, while never leaving the comfort of one's own home. Apart from the seemingly harmless social Internet dating options, one can schedule a sexual affair in the amount of time it takes to pour a glass of water. The Internet has become the "portal" to a new reality - virtual reality. This training is designed to address the true costs of Internet Addiction Disorder. The training will explore the impact of the seductive and addictive nature of cyber sexual, romantic, social (i.e., Facebook) and fantasy websites. The diagnostic criteria, signs, symptoms, demographics, cause/etiology and biological/neurological aspects of IAD will also be examined. Gain a fresh and comprehensive perspective on a critical phenomenon of the 21st century."
